November 30, 2021From 1 November 2021, changes have been made to how superannuation will work for new employees joining an employer (including Defence). Essentially, these changes mean that if the employee already has a super fund before joining they will automatically stay with their existing fund unless they choose a new one. They will be ‘stapled’ to their fund. These changes should have no effect on existing Defence members, unless they change employers.
It is important that ADF members and other Defence employees do not provide financial advice to their colleagues or do anything else to influence their financial decisions. For more information on these changes please see the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website.
